Purchase electricity online via www.isumonline.co.za. Have your meter number ready when purchasing.
Visit any City of Matlosana municipal service point in person to purchase electricity. Bring your meter number and payment.
Electricity tokens are available at most petrol stations, supermarkets, and spaza shops.
⚠️ Always have your meter number on hand when purchasing — the token is generated specifically for your meter and cannot be transferred.
Full tariff details are available at the City of Matlosana municipal offices or customer service centres.
Electricity is priced on a rising block tariff. Your monthly usage accumulates across all purchases, and as your total crosses into a higher block, a higher rate applies to any units in that block.
This resets to zero on the 1st of every calendar month, regardless of when you last purchased. Buying in smaller amounts throughout the month does not reduce your rate — only your cumulative total determines which block you are in.
Municipal electricity tariffs are reviewed and updated annually, with new rates taking effect on 1 July each year, subject to approval by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA).
This calculator will be updated to reflect new tariffs once officially published. Use the tariff year selector at the top of the page to compare rates across years once available.
Your meter number (also called a Supply Group Code / SGC or AMRID) is printed on your electricity meter box, usually on a label on the front or inside the door.
It may also appear on previous electricity token receipts or on your municipal account statement. If you cannot locate it, contact the City of Matlosana customer service centre for assistance.
If a valid token is rejected by your meter, try the following:
